SPECIAL OLYMPICS - National Fundraising Day

As you know the Games are coming to Limerick in less than 60 days, if you have volunteered for these Games you will be happy to know the Limerick Games office is in full swing and busy assigning volunteers to their roles. Volunteers who attended one of our Recruitment sessions will be given priority when assigning roles but either way everyone who has registered will hear from us by the end of April.

Prior to the Games Special Olympics Ireland is holding their All Ireland Collection Day on Friday April 23rd, this is the organisation’s one major fundraising event for 2010 and our target for Limerick is €50,000 – we can only achieve this if we have lots of volunteers helping us on the day.

Unfortunately we are currently 150 people short of the volunteers required to run this Day Successfully.

If you are in a position to give even a couple of hours that would be a fantastic help and make the world of difference to Special Olympics, please contact Darragh Madden at darragh.madden@specialolympics.ie or on 061-492817/ 085-7656630 with

Your Country, Your Call

Here's an opportunity to PLAY YOUR PART in the re-emergence of YOUR COUNTRY using your personal ideas and in the process win a substantial sum of money to use as seed capital for your business idea. Dr Martin McAleese husband of the President Mary McAleese has initiated a program to enable you to help Ireland emerge from the black hole we find ourselves in. This is true patriotism at work and you do not have to place your life on the line. NO GUNS only ROSES.

Your Country, Your Call
is a competition to ignite imaginations and inspire thinking. The goal is to pick two truly transformational proposals so big that, when implemented, could secure prosperity and jobs for Ireland.MORE

Speakers Corner in the White House.

Stephen Kinsella (economics lecturer in UL) will be the lead speaker at next weeks "Speakers Corner" in the White House (Monday 19th at 8:45pm).

Stephen will be discussing recent NAMA developments. It could make for a very interesting discussion if some of the Dell redundant workers would like to attend and we could compare the NAMA/bankers treatment with that of the Dell/workers.

Fuller details are available on the website which accompanies the "Speakers Corner" series www.commonsense.ie

Copy Of Email From EU Commission
re. new European Microfinance Facility

From:EMPL-MICROFINANCE@ec.europa.eu
To:dellrwa@gmail.com
Date:1 April 2010
Subject:query on Micro Finance 1923

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your message.
The European Commission is indeed setting up a new European Microfinance Facility increasing the supply and accessibility of microloans for vulnerable groups and unemployed wanting to set up or further develop their own business. The Facility is especially targeted at those who might not normally obtain credit to access to funds in the current context of reduced credit supply.

The Facility will be operational from June 2010
. Under the Facility, the European Investment Fund will make funding available for providers of microloans in the Member States to reach out to the audience targeted by the European Microfinance Facility. These providers can be banks, not-for-profit micro lenders or institutions providing guarantees and other providers of microfinance products to microenterprises. After a first selection has taken place, the names of the providers will be published on the Commission's website in the second half of 2010:More

Accompanying measures will be developed under the European Social Fund. Information on the European Social Fund can be found at the following website: More
